The breaker

The water sloshes slightly
you know, I have to go
In the water, behind the railings
the breaker stands, so sure he is
Shall I tap him on the shoulder
seek his lips, or look at him a little longer?

In the hazy evening light, I
see as much as with closed eyes
Unseen there is a bird, it flaps
the sound of nothing, perhaps
my quiet heart also will disappear
forever in the infinite black over here

You know the day is over, it is easy
the water sloshes slightly there
at the bottom of the stairs where
the tall dark stranger is ready
For years he has been waiting for me
and now, I follow him to the sea
